Get ready for a night of choral music celebrating the 1980s at the Manassas Chorale’s Awesome Eighties Spring Concert on June 1, 2018. This concert should be perfect for an evening of entertainment where you get to appreciate the talent of others in the community.
The concert will be at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, which is at 10960 George Mason Circle, right here in Manassas. The concert takes place June 1, at 7:30 p.m. and should last approximately two hours. You can buy your tickets over the phone, online at the Hylton Center’s website, or at the Hylton Center Box Office during normal hours or on the night of the concert. Tickets for the first and second balcony are $18, and those in the orchestra and Parterre boxes are $20. Children 18 years old and younger and GMU students with valid IDs get in for free. However, they will have to pick up tickets at the box office. If you go in a group that includes those eligible for free tickets, let the Hylton know so the staff can reserve the seats adjoining your purchased ones.
About the Manassas Chorale
This spring concert is the final performance of the Manassas Chorale’s 2017–2018 season. The group began in 1994 with around 25 singers. Now, there are approximately 100 singers and the chorale requires auditions to join. The group performs four concerts during every season, typically in October, December, March, then May. Members sing a wide range of musical works spanning all styles, such as classical masterworks, sacred music, traditional Americana, culturally diverse pieces, and Broadway show tunes. In addition to their concerts, they perform at churches, museums, assisted living facilities, retirement homes, and more. They also regularly co-sponsor Voices United with the Manassas Baptist Church and Concerts with a Cause, the latter of which supports a range of charities.
Like What You Hear? Consider Auditioning
If you really enjoy the Awesome Eighties concert and love singing, consider auditioning to join the Manassas Chorale. Adult and high school singers are welcome to audition. You first visit an open rehearsal and sign up for an audition. There, you sing in front of the artistic director and a second judge. Keep an eye out for the audition schedule for the chorale’s 2018–2019 season, which should be posted soon. The auditions for the current season began in late August, so expect a similar timeline.
