Help Give Back to the Community with Orchestras Feeding America

History of Orchestras Feeding America

Orchestras Feeding America was created in response to the film The Soloist which featured Robert Downy Jr. and Jamie Fox. The movie highlighted the true story of Los Angeles Times columnist Steve Lopez and Nathaniel Anthony Ayers, a string musician who trained at Juilliard but was rendered homeless as a result of a mental illness. Inspired by the film’s presentation of music as a redemptive and incorruptible catalyst for building human relationships, the League of American Orchestras was prompted to join forces with Feeding America.

Contributions

For over eight years, Orchestras Feeding America has induced the donation of over 500,000 pounds of food from more than 450 Orchestras across the 50 states.
